If you are looking for a fun place in Connecticut to go with your family, look no further than the Danbury Railway Museum! As its name suggests, it focuses on the history of railroading in southern New England and neighboring New York. In this post, I will be discussing its history, as well as all the different things you can see and do there. The museum itself is located in the old Union Station in Danbury, which was built in 1903 by the New York, New Haven, and Hartford Railroad in response to local pressure for a new station after the three railroads that served the city were merged into the New Haven. During the station’s peak, 125 trains would stop there in one day, but during the 1990s, after Danbury’s lucrative hat industry had long gone, it had dwindled down to only a few commuter trains. The city of Stamford Downtown has many exciting events during the summer, and today I am going to tell you all about another one! It is called the Hey Stamford Food Festival, and it will take place over the course of two weekends in August at Mill River Park. The event features a variety of food trucks, vendors, live performances, and many other exciting things. In this post, I will talk about what they have had at the event in the past, work my way through the years, and finish with what they have in store for this year.  The event first started in 2017, and only lasted one day. There were two headliner performers that year, which were both tribute acts, and they were a 90s act called Fresh Kids of Bel-Air and Back to the Eighties Show with Jessie’s Girl. They also had a number of food trucks and restaurants participating in the event, which included the Kona Ice truck, a pizza truck called Dough Girls, local restaurant chain The Granola Bar, and Connecticut food chain Donut Crazy...

There are many fascinating places in Norwalk, and one of the most fascinating is certainly Stepping Stones Museum for Children! As its name suggests, it is a museum that is targeted towards children that are ten years old or younger, and it also has a ton of interactive elements. In this post, I will be talking about the museum, all the fun elements they have there, and the events they are going to have.  The museum itself first opened in March of 2000, and during its first ten years of operation, it had a massive two million visits. In 2010, the museum underwent a massive renovation that had a budget of $17 million, which also resulted in a three-month closure that culminated in a grand reopening in November 2010. This renovation also expanded the museum’s interior space by 22,000 square feet, which also doubled the facility’s available indoor area. The city of South Norwalk has experienced several changes in recent years, and certainly the biggest is the opening of The SoNo Collection! It is an upscale shopping mall that first opened in October 2019, is three floors, has 89 stores and services with two anchor tenants, has a variety of events going on there, and art on display there. In this post, I will write about the tenants at this mall and the events and other cool things to do there, in hopes that it will convince all of you reading to go and check it out.  The two anchor tenants at the mall are Nordstrom and Bloomingdale’s, which also happen to be the only locations for both stores in Southern Connecticut and the state of Connecticut respectively, which helps it stand out from other malls in Fairfield County.  It also has a variety of other tenants, many of which are clothing stores. In this post, I will be discussing all the events that are happening on or around the Fourth of July in Westchester County, Dutchess County, and Fairfield County, as I feel these are the closest to where all of you reading live, and hopefully what I write about will convince you to go to any one of these events. In the past, I have made several posts about farmers markets in the area, and today I am going to make another one! This one is in my favorite place in Connecticut, the city of Downtown Stamford. It used to be located on Bedford Street, but they moved it to a new location a few years ago. While I don’t know the exact reason, my guess is that they ran out of room with all the restaurants on the street offering outdoor dining at the same time. It is now located at Veterans Memorial Park on Atlantic Street, which is in front of the Stamford Town Center. In this post, I will be talking about the vendors that are listed on the event’s website and what they sell and finishing off with some additional information. The first vendor that is part of it according to the website is Amelia’s Florist & Farm Market from East Haven, which as their name suggests, sells a variety of flowers and fresh produce. If you are looking for something fun to do this summer, head on over to Norwalk, Connecticut! For the entire months of June, July, August, and September, the Norwalk Seaport Association will be offering several boat rides on the waters of Norwalk that go to Sheffield Island, which features a historic lighthouse. In this blog post, I will be talking about all the boat rides that they offer and the events they have coming up, and hopefully what I say will convince you to go on any of the exciting cruises they offer. One of the first boat rides that they offer is a special one on June 30, which is a bird watching tour through Norwalk Harbor. The boat leaves the dock at 7:30 AM, and from there it will take you on a two-and-a-half-hour cruise of the Norwalk Islands.
