Playland Park

Image
Hello everybody!  I went back and forth for such a long time on what my next blog post would be. I started thinking that I was going to write about restaurants of former Hell’s Kitchen contestants in New York, Connecticut, and New Jersey, then I thought I was going to write about the Village of Bronxville, which I went to last weekend, then I thought I was going to write about the towns of both Mahopac and Bronxville, but mostly just the restaurants in them, before finally deciding on restaurants of past Hell’s Kitchen contestants, but after I had written about only a small number of restaurants, I just felt like writing about more restaurants was just draining me, so I deleted everything I had written, and just sat there waiting to decide on what I would write about, before I figured that I would write about what made the most sense at the time: Playland Park in Rye!  I’m sure that all of you reading are familiar with it, but there is a big reason why I have chosen to write a...

Mohegan Sun Arena

Image
Hello everybody! I had so much fun writing about Foxwoods Resort Casino last week, I figured I would do something similar this week! If you’re wondering what I mean, this blog post is going to be covering the other major casino and entertainment complex in Connecticut: Mohegan Sun Arena!  It is located on 240 acres of the Mohegan Indian Reservation in Uncasville, Connecticut along the banks of the Thames River. It also features two hotel towers with more than 1,500 rooms, a large retail and dining promenade, a spa, a 100,000 square foot convention center, more than 364,000 square feet of gaming space with over 6,500 slot machines, 370 table games, a race book, and a 10,000 seat multi-purpose venue. This is going to be interesting for me to write about because there is so much for me to talk about. I mean, much like Foxwoods, it also has a lot of restaurants and exciting upcoming shows, but there are also some other things it has that are unique to it that I will talk about right no...

Foxwoods Resort Casino

Hello everybody! Let’s talk about one of the biggest tourist attractions in Connecticut today: Foxwoods Resort Casino! This is an integrated resort that is owned and operated by the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation on their reservation in Ledyard, Connecticut. It covers an area of 9,000,000 square feet, has a total of six casinos with more than 250 gaming tables for blackjack, craps, roulette, and poker, more than 5,500 slot machines, several restaurants, two hotel towers with 2,228 hotel rooms, an arcade, and a retail complex with 85 stores.  I’m going to be honest with you all right now, I had no idea how I would address this blog post, as there are two parts of the casino that are easily worth talking about: the restaurants and the upcoming shows. In my mind, both are equally fascinating, but I also don’t know if I can address both of them in a single blog post, so here’s what I am going to do. I am going to start writing this with the intention of talking about both of them, b...

PNC Bank Arts Center

Image
Hello everybody!  I have already written about two outdoor concert venues in the area, so let’s finish the trifecta off with the other major outdoor arena in the New York City Metropolitan Area: The PNC Bank Arts Center in Holmdel, New Jersey!  Much like the other two outdoor summer concert venues I have written about, they already have a stacked schedule of shows this summer. Unlike Jones Beach Theater and The Hartford HealthCare Amphitheater, this venue can hold 17,500 people, as it has 7,000 seats, but what makes it different is the fact that it has a grass area that can hold about 10,500 people. I am now going to go over the shows that they are going to have this summer. A few warnings before I get started. First, a lot of the shows that are part of their lineup are at the other two venues, so I will be talking about some artists for either the second or third time, in which case, I’m sorry, but I don’t care because it’s my blog and I choose what I write about. Second, the...

New York State Fair

Image
Hello everybody! Today I am going to travel far beyond the area in which we all live, and head all the way to Upstate New York to Syracuse for the largest annual event in the state: The New York State Fair!  This is a 13 day showcase of agriculture, entertainment, education, and technology, and it also has midway rides, concessionaires, exhibits, and concerts. It also begins in August and lasts for 13 days before ending on Labor Day.  I was actually originally planning to write about it as soon as they had announced all the headliners this year, but after going back to last year and seeing that they finished announcing concerts in July, and the fact that I currently can’t think of anything else to write about, I decided to write about it now, talk about its history, its various features, who will be performing this year, and if I want to, I will share who has performed there in the past as well.  It was inaugurated all the way back in 1841 in Syracuse by the New York Stat...
