Summer In Stamford CT

Hello everybody!

Let me tell you all something right now. I was struggling so hard to think of what I would write about for this blog post. I started two different blog posts and ultimately decided not to write about them. I started writing about the evolution of Adam Pally on game shows, but then I just ultimately lost interest, and then I tried giving restaurants of Hell’s Kitchen contestants another try, but then writing essentially the same things over and over again was just too boring for me, so I found myself just completely lost as to what I was going to write about. I could not think of anything that I felt was worth writing about, and everything I could think of would either involve me repeating myself yet again, or me talking about things that didn’t have much information that was worth talking about.

So, ultimately, I just decided to write about one of my favorite places in the world, Stamford, and the various things you can do there this summer!

The first event they have this summer actually started this week. It’s called Street Beats, and it’s a pop-up performance initiative that is designed to energize the downtown through live busking style music, and it’s in various locations throughout the downtown until August 29.

The next event they have this summer also started this week. It’s Outdoor Painting Classes with Pinot’s Palette, and it will be happening five more times on June 9, June 30, July 21, August 11, and September 1.

The next event they have this summer is one that also started this week and will only be on certain days. It’s Trivia In Veterans Park, which is a partnership with Best Trivia Ever, and is going to be on June 25, July 16, August 13, and September 3.

The next event they have this summer is one that starts on May 25 and goes until August 30: Outdoor Fitness Classes at various locations in Downtown Stamford.

The next event they have this summer on May 30 is Brews On Bedford, which is in Latham Park, will go from 2:00-5:00, and will feature unlimited tastings from local and regional breweries, food trucks, live music, craft vendors, and more.

The next event they have this summer is called Summer Of Soccer, and just from reading the description, it appears that it will just be watch parties at downtown restaurants and bars of World Cup matches, and it will be going from June 11-July 19.

The next event they have this summer is called Open Play Chess, which is where you can play chess out in public, and it happens on Saturdays at Latham Park from 1:00-3:00, and from June 13 to September 12.

The next event they have this summer is the Farmers Market, which happens on Saturdays from June 13 to October 10, goes from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM, and is located in Veterans Memorial Park, right in the heart of Downtown Stamford.

The next event they have this summer is Arts & Crafts On Bedford, which features more than 60 local and regional artists showing off their work on Bedford Street, and it will also be happening twice. First on June 13, and then again on September 12.

The next event they have this summer is one that has been having for six years now: Stamford Town Center Summer Block Party, which will be happening on Saturday June 20 and Sunday June 21 from 11:00-6:00 both days in Restaurant Plaza. From reading the description of the event, it appears that admission has not been free in the past, but it will be this year. It will also have live music, DJs, dance performances, and entertainment from local talent and community performers. Restaurants in the plaza will be offering specialty menu items, food stations, and what the Internet describes as “Festival Favorites.” There will also be family friendly activities like face painting, balloon artists, interactive games, and kids entertainment throughout the day. It will also have a marketplace with local businesses, artisans, and vendors. Even though this is the sixth time this event will be happening, I really hope that it will be successful, as the Stamford Town Center has been experiencing some hard times lately, and it will be losing Barnes & Noble, one of its biggest tenants, in July.

There are also going to be several fun events happening in Mill River Park.

The first of these events is Movies In The Park. It’s exactly what you think it is, which is outdoor movie screenings on Karp Lawn in Mill River Park, and it is on certain Fridays at 8:00.

The currently scheduled dates for this event are June 12, June 26, July 3, July 10, August 7, and August 14.

And if you’re curious what movies will be shown, they are E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial, Spy Kids, Jaws, Hoppers, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, and GOAT. For those of you who don’t know what the last three movies are, Hoppers is the Pixar movie that came out a few months ago that nobody remembers, Rogue One is one of those Disney Star Wars prequel movies that everybody cared about at the time, but now nobody remembers its existence, and GOAT is an animated movie that came out a few months ago and is inspired by the underdog journey of Stephen Curry, except, there’s a twist: The main character is an actual goat! Isn’t that just funny?! Yeah, I don’t even remember what happened in the movie, and I didn’t even see it.

The next event at Mill River Park is called Sunday Funday, and now it has me wondering if this phrase is actually really popular. Even though I have never heard anybody say it in the real world, do people actually say it? Is it really popular enough that it is the most popular answer on an episode of Match Game? Which also stupidly is not returning to ABC this summer, but who’s complaining about this completely unrelated topic?!?!?!

For those of you who are curious as to what this event is, it’s really only for those of you with kids, as it’s read-alongs of children’s books.

The next event at Mill River Park is Fit Club, which is an enormous variety of fitness classes including Yoga, Zumba, Pilates, Tai Chi, and Sound Bath Meditation.

The next event at Mill River Park is Fun Saturday Mornings, which is another event that is really targeted towards those of you who have kids.

Mill River Park is also going to have several events that are presented in partnership with other companies, including Art In The Park, The Mayor’s Multicultural Day, A Yoga Class that celebrates The Summer Solstice, The Fairfield County Dance Festival, Ballet Under The Stars presented by Connecticut Ballet, and a performance from Circus Splendiferous.

There will also be several events this summer in the Harbor Point section of Stamford.

The first of these is Live Music in Commons Park, which is on July 8 and goes from 6:00-8:00.

The next event here is The 14th Annual Best Bartender Contest, which is on July 22 from 6:30-9:00, with a rain date on July 23 if necessary. It will consist of Stamford’s top bartenders competing for the honor of being named Stamford’s Best Bartender, and you can also enjoy craft cocktails, curated bites, music, meet and greets with the chefs, and lawn games by the water.

The next event here is an enormous variety of Yoga, Pilates, and other forms of outdoor fitness classes that will consistently be happening throughout the entirety of the summer.

The next event here that will be happening here on Wednesdays throughout the summer from 6:30-7:30 is Yappy Hour in Commons Park Dog Park. Get it? It’s a pun.

Harbor Point will also be having outdoor movie screenings in Commons Park on Wednesday nights, which typically starts at 8:30 PM.

The last event that will be happening here is another Farmers Market, which will be happening on Sundays from July 12 to September 13, and is where you can get a variety of fresh greens, dairy items, fruits, vegetables, prepared foods, flowers, and more.

Overall, there are many exciting events coming to Stamford this summer, and you should go check them out! I’m sorry if this blog post seems all over the place or unfocused, but this is what happens when you are actively dealing with writers block.

There is actually one more event in Stamford this summer that I haven’t brought up, and if you’re curious as to what it is, you’ll just have to wait until later…!
