Stamford Downtown
As you are all aware, I have written about the Stamford Downtown Parade Spectacular recently and the city of Stamford many times, and I am going to do so again today! In this blog post I am going to be talking about the three streets that are along the parade route and the businesses that are located along them, in hopes that it will encourage all of you reading to check out any or all of the highlights on them.
I will be starting at the beginning of the parade route on Summer Street.
The first business on this street is AFC Urgent Care Stamford.
Right after that is a bank that has many other locations in Stamford called First County Bank.
A little further down is a small shopping plaza that has a few businesses. These include a convenience store called Convenience Plus and a deli called Enzo’s Old Greenwich Deli.
Right after that is another small shopping plaza that has a few businesses. They are an appliance store called County TV & Appliance, Tiger Schulmann’s Martial Arts, which also has a location here in Mount Kisco, and a dance studio called Locust Performing Arts Center.
Right after that is a business that I might want to check out some time in the future called Donut Delight.
A little bit after that is a building that is home to a few businesses. These include a business that I hope none of you reading ever go to called Riverside Smoke Shop, a lingerie store called After Midnight, a deli called Capers Deli & Catering, and right next to that is a big empty space that has been occupied by a number of furniture stores over the years.
Right after that is a restaurant chain that I’m sure you’re all familiar with, IHOP.
Right after that is a KeyBank location.
Right across the street from that is the Ridgeway Shopping Center, which you might remember I have written about before.
Right after that is another building that has two businesses according to Google Maps. The first one is a salon called Mint Spa & Nail, and the second one is Fortunoff Backyard Store, which I used to be surprised was there, as I remember that Fortunoff closed all their locations back in 2009, but I have since learned that Fortunoff Backyard Stores operate under an agreement with Furniture Concepts.
Right next to that is another building that has a few unique businesses. They are another business that I hope none of you ever go to called World’s Exotic Smoke Shop, a business called Capitol Bail Bonds, a Thai restaurant called Little Buddha, and popular clothing store Men’s Wearhouse.
Right after that is a bunch of offices and banks.
In between these banks and offices is a corner restaurant called Summer Street Pizza Deli & Restaurant.
Further down the street, where the parade route begins, is a party store called Pinatalandia.
Next to that is popular ice cream business Dairy Queen, which is closed during the winter.
Right across the street is a pizza restaurant called Planet Pizza.
Next to that is a pharmacy called A&S Pharmacy.
Down the road a little more are offices and apartment buildings.
A little further down the road is a print shop called Rapid Press.
Right after that is several other businesses. These are an Italian restaurant called Siena Ristorante, a barber shop called HandleBar Salon CT, a pet store that my mom loves to look at called Smart Puppies, a photography business called Ashley Caroline Photography, a Korean BBQ restaurant called Love Meat Korean BBQ, an Edible Arrangements store, a Mexican restaurant called Guac Time Mexican Grill, a Japanese restaurant called Kotobuki, and a furniture store called United Home & Patio.
Across the street are places that include a salon called Eyebrow Threading Salon, Stamford Driving School, a Mexican restaurant called Cantina Mexicana, and a business called La Jolie Salon and Spa.
Further down the road are some more businesses, most of which are restaurants. They include a Korean restaurant called Ninja Bubble Tea, a Jamaican restaurant called Jerkyz, a Bartaco restaurant, an Indian restaurant called Taj Stamford, a Buffalo Wild Wings Restaurant, a restaurant called Finders Lane Kitchen & Bar, a Japanese restaurant called Kashi, a pizza restaurant called Sally’s Apizza, and an AMC movie theater.
The next street that the parade goes down is Broad Street. It is not as long as the other two streets, but it still has some unique businesses along it, which I will now go over.
The first business you will encounter on this street is a Stamford campus of UCONN.
Right across the street is a fitness place called Row House.
Right next to that is a coffee shop called Honey Joe’s, which also has a play area for kids.
Right next to that is a salon called Phenix Salon Suites.
After that is a multi-level Target store.
A few doors down is a store that I hope none of you ever go to, a smoke shop called Smokey Bear.
Right next to that is a furniture store called US Furniture.
Across the street from that is a salon called Salon Shahin.
Next to that is a restaurant called City Market.
Next to that is an empty space that used to be occupied by Burlington but is scheduled to become apartment buildings.
Right across from that is a Courtyard Marriott hotel, which also has a restaurant called Divina Modern Italian.
Across the street is The Ferguson Library, which has a coffee shop attached to it called Winfield Street Coffee.
Across the street from that is a restaurant called Blackstones Steakhouse.
The last street the parade goes down is Atlantic Street. There are also a lot of businesses and buildings on this street, and I will be going over some of the highlights.
The first business on the street is a Residence Inn by Marriott hotel.
Across the street from that is a store called Scout Adventure & Sport Scape.
Right next to that is a juice shop called Juice Kings.
Next to that is a Bank of America location.
Across the street from that is the performance venue The Palace Stamford Center for the Arts.
Across the street from that is a business called Izet’s Leather & Shoe Repair.
A few doors down is a restaurant called The Sandwich Maestro.
Across the street from that is a pizza restaurant called Fairfield Pizza.
Next to that is a convenience store called Square News & Convenience.
Next to that is an herbal medicine store called Natural Herbal Labs.
Next to that is a restaurant called Sushi X2.
Next to that is a beauty supply store called Two Brothers Beauty Supply.
Next to that is a night club called The Palms Night Club.
Next to that is a vegetarian Indian restaurant called Navaratna.
Next to that is one of the most popular businesses in America, Dunkin’.
Next to that is the Stamford Old Town Hall.
Further down the road is a wine store called Atlantic Wine and Liquor.
Right across the street from that is a store that I have been to before with my family, Safavieh Home Furnishings.
Across the street is another pizza restaurant called Atlantic Pizza.
Next to that is a Chinese restaurant called Great Wall and a Mexican restaurant called Cosechas.
Next to that is a barber shop called Vanity Studio LLC.
Next to that is a church called Basilica of Saint John the Evangelist.
Across the street from that is Bobby V’s Restaurant & Sports Bar, which is owned by former baseball manager Bobby Valentine.
Right next to that is a California-style Mexican restaurant called California Tortilla.
Right next to that is a spa called Spavia Day Spa.
Right across the street from that is Stamford Studios, a TV studio where “Maury” and “The Jerry Springer Show” were taped, and where “The Steve Wilkos Show” and “Karamo” are currently taped.
Overall, there are many fun things to do and see on these three major streets in Stamford Downtown, so get in your car and go check them out!
