Ridge Hill

There are many fascinating shopping centers in Westchester County, but one of the most fascinating is certainly Ridge Hill in Yonkers! Stylized after a modern town square and having 67 businesses with some on an outdoor second floor and parking lots that are behind the stores so you feel like you’re walking in an outdoor mall, as well as having fountains and a playground, this is one place that you will want to check out. In this post, I will be talking about its history, its business directory, upcoming events, and changes that are being made to it.

The center itself sits on an 84-acre piece of land that was purchased from the city of Yonkers and plans to make that land a site that would help stimulate job growth go back as far as 2000. Construction of the center officially began in 2007, with a scheduled opening date of 2009, however, due to the economic recession, the completion of the center was pushed back until 2011, when it opened on October 20. 

The first business at the center is called 914 Exotics. It sells exotic flavors of soda and snack foods, such as Cheetos, Oreos, Lay’s, Doritos, Fanta, and KitKat. 

The next business at the center is an Apple Store, which is a common business at any mall in the area. 

The next business at the center is another one that I feel is common at many malls and shopping centers in the area, which is an AT&T store. 

The next business at the center is one of the most popular clothing stores at any mall or shopping center in the area, Banana Republic.

The next business at the center is another popular store at malls and shopping centers where people can get products like fragrances and skin care, which is Bath and Body Works.

The next three businesses listed on the website are all coming soon. The first one is a restaurant called Bee Bubble Tea, the second one is a place called Bee’s Arts and Crafts Studio, and a restaurant that serves a combination of Mexican, Caribbean, and Tex-Mex foods called Cantina.

The next business at the center is a wood fired Latin restaurant called Casa Fuego.

The next business at the center is another store that I think I have seen at several other malls and shopping centers is the shoe store Clarks.

The last business at the center is the Yonkers Comedy Club.

There are also a few events coming up at the center. These include yoga classes on the South Lawn that go until September 25, a happy hour at the dog park that goes until September 5, live music that goes until September 27, events targeted towards kids that go until September 24, and movie nights on the South Lawn that goes until September 26.

In May 2022, the center was acquired by North American Properties, Nuveen Real Estate, and Taconic Partners, with plans to redevelop it. A lot of progress has been made this year, starting in March with fencing going up in preparation for construction in the Town Square and Park Plaza. Construction officially began on April 10, with the fountain being removed from Park Plaza on April 17 and the Old Kiosk in Town Square being torn down on April 24. On May 13, 2nd Street was closed to all vehicle traffic and the sidewalk was open to pedestrian traffic only, and the facade painting began in Park Plaza, which was later completed on June 19, and the second level railings started being painted on July 9. Overall, this is one place in Westchester County that you do not want to miss. So, go ahead and go to one of the most charming shopping centers in the area!
