Cortlandt Town Center

As many of you are probably aware, there are a lot of shopping centers in Westchester County. In my opinion one of the most fascinating is the Cortlandt Town Center in Cortlandt Manor. The reason why I think it’s so unique is because it has so many big tenants for a shopping center in Northern Westchester. It also happens to be a special type of shopping center called a power center, which typically has 250,000 to 600,000 square feet of businesses. In this post, I will be talking briefly about its history, and then going over its tenant roster.

It originally opened in 1975 as an enclosed mall called the Westchester Mall which I found fascinating, as there is nothing there currently that suggests that it used to be a mall. I could not find any information on this mall or how long it was open, but I was able to find that the shopping center as it currently is first opened in 1997. It was originally made from buildings that made up the original mall, with many new buildings being added to it over time, causing it to grow to 772,000 square feet.

The center itself currently has a variety of tenants that range from restaurants to clothing stores to furniture stores and many other places.

The first tenant there is one that you can find almost anywhere in America, McDonald’s. I remember going to a lot of these locations when I was younger, but I don’t know if I ever went to this one specifically.

The next tenant there is one that I’m sure a lot of adults have been to, Chase Bank.

The next tenant there is one that I am still surprised to find out has a location in Northern Westchester, Best Buy. It also happens to be its only location in Northern Westchester.

The next tenant there is a restaurant that I used to enjoy going to when it had a location in Mount Kisco, Applebee’s.

The next tenant there is a restaurant that my family sometimes got food from when it was in Mount Kisco, Subway.

The next tenant there is one that I have seen at another shopping center near me, Urgent Care.

The next tenant there is one that used to have a location closer to me in Bedford Hills, Panera Bread.

The next tenant there is another bank that has several locations in the area, M&T Bank.

The next tenant there is a clothing store that I am often surprised has a location in Northern Westchester because I view it as a bigger chain, Marshalls.

The next tenant there appears to be two clothing stores in one, Carter’s and OshKosh. I feel that this is a slightly recent addition because the last time I went to the center, there was a Famous Footwear in this location.

The next tenant there is an Asian restaurant called Emperor Garden.

The next tenant there is a store that I went to several times when I was younger, GameStop.

The next tenant there is a salon called J&R Nails.

The next tenant there is a restaurant that has grown in popularity over the years, Five Guys.

The next tenant there is a store that you can find almost anywhere in the world, T-Mobile.

The next tenant there is a dry cleaners called Image Cleaners.

The next tenant there is another bank that has a location in Mount Kisco, Citibank.

The next tenant there is a post office.

The next tenant there is an eyeglass store called America’s Best.

The next tenant there is called Tropical Smoothie Café.

The next tenant there is another one that also has a location in Mount Kisco, H&R Block.

The next tenant there is popular ice cream chain Haagen Dazs.

The next tenant there is one that I loved going to when I was younger, Walmart. I have a lot of memories going there and getting new Thomas the Tank Engine toys.

The next tenant there is another beauty salon called Unisex Palace Hair.

The next tenant there is a U-Haul business.

The next tenant there is another one that I have seen at several other locations in the area, Mattress Firm.

The next tenant there is a Community Room that offers programs and activities to residents of all ages.

The next tenant there is a United Artists movie theater, that was announced as closing last year, but is still open. I have a lot of memories of this theater, as when I worked as a counselor at the town camp, this is where we would go for our movie trip.

The next tenant there is another clothing store that I am surprised is at a shopping center in Northern Westchester, Old Navy, which I find surprising because most of the places where I have seen it in the past are malls.

The next tenant there is another one that I have seen at many shopping centers over the years, Michael’s Arts & Crafts.

The next tenant there is another one that I have seen at a variety of shopping centers in the area and is also one I enjoy going to, Five Below.

The next tenant there is another one that I enjoyed going to as a kid, Barnes & Noble. As a kid, I loved seeing what books they had, and I loved to go over the Thomas the Tank Engine toy section with the train table, but I was always disappointed that the store didn’t sell any DVDs.

The next tenant there is a Daycare center.

The next tenant there is another one that I was initially surprised to find out had a store there, DSW. It surprised me because I used to think of it as just a mall or high-end shopping center store, and it also has very few other locations in the area.

The next tenant there is a recent addition, Ashley Furniture, which is also its only location in Northern Westchester.

The next tenant there is another one that surprises me because it has very few other locations in the area, PetSmart.

The next tenant there is the grocery store Acme, which opened after the closing of A&P like many other locations.

The next tenant there is a wine store called Mohegan Wines.

The next tenant there is a carpet store called Allen Carpet.

I am old enough to know the history about the next tenant. It used to be a store called Linens N Things, but then it closed, then it was Bed Bath & Beyond, but then that closed as well, and the current tenant in this space is HomeGoods.

The last tenant there is a popular tenant at many shopping centers, and one that my dad has been to many times, The Home Depot.

Overall, this place has a ton of amazing businesses for a town in Northern Westchester, so go ahead and check it out!
