Legoland Discovery Center

If you’re looking for a fun place to go with your whole family, head over to the Legoland Discovery Center in Yonkers, New York! This is an indoor family attraction that features models of local landmarks made from Lego bricks, building classes taught by master builders, a 4-D movie theatre, and some small rides and play fortresses.

One of the rides that they have is called Kingdom Quest. It is an interactive ride where you are riding in chariots mounted with laser guns that you will be firing at skeletons and trolls on your journey to rescue the princess. There is also a spinner ride called Merlin’s Apprentice, which has pedals at the bottom of each ride vehicle to help you go higher. The 4-D cinema plays a movie that has wind, rain, and snow effects. There is also a virtual reality ride where you must steer clear of flying objects, soar high in the air, and fly into lava caves. They also have an interactive and build challenge activity that will improve your flexibility, agility, ingenuity, and Lego brick building skills to protect Ninjago. It also has a Ninjago reaction test, a Ninjago laser maze, and earthquake tables where you see if your tower can last through an earthquake.

There is also a part called Miniland, which features miniature Lego replicas of famous New York landmarks. These landmarks were built from over 1 million Lego bricks and took a team of 15 expert model builders over 5,000 hours to build. There is also a place where kids can build and test their own racecars. Once the cars are built, they can race them against their friends or whoever else has built a racecar at the same time.

If you plan on going during December, you should also check out their Holiday Bricktacular event. It features many different holiday themed activities, such as gingerbread man cookie decorating, a meet and greet with the Lego gingerbread man, giant holiday builds of a snowman, a Christmas tree, and presents that you can take pictures in front of, a workshop where you can build holiday mosaics such as a Lego present, gingerbread house, snowman, and candy cane. Miniland New York will also be transformed into a winter wonderland and will also have a holiday scavenger hunt through candy cane lane, where you can spot all the hidden Lego candy canes placed throughout the city. There will also be a Lego ornament building activity where you can build ornaments and place them on the tree in the winter workshop. There is also a fun activity for kids, which is called arctic animal training, where they will learn how to roar like a polar bear, waddle like a penguin, and run like a reindeer. There will also be a hot chocolate bar, where you can build your hot chocolate however you want and choose from a selection of toppings.

So get your tickets and go have fun with some Lego bricks!
