Heights & Lights

If you are looking for a fun event for the whole family this holiday season, just head over to Stamford!

On December 3, they will be holding their annual holiday event called Heights & Lights. This is an event that takes place in Downtown Stamford that starts at Landmark Square, which is a 22-story building. Santa, Rudolph, the Grinch, and other holiday characters will rappel down the side of the building. In previous years, general manager of the New York Yankees Brian Cashman has also participated in rappelling down the building. Following the rappelling, there is going to be what the website describes as a festive fireworks show.

After that part of the event is over, Santa and the other holiday characters will march up Bedford Street for the second part of the event at Latham Park. There will be live holiday music there, but they have not yet said who will be providing it. In previous years, the music has been provided by kids’ music group Swingset Mamas, and a holiday group called the Candy Cane Carolers. There have also been times that the music has been provided by the cast of a play at Saxe Middle School, such as “Lion King Jr.” and “Elf Jr.” One year they even had Jose Feliciano who sings “Feliz Navidad,” as he lives around the area. Once the music is over, they will light Stamford’s holiday tree.

As the repelling is not an easy process, they go through training on Friday morning two days before the event. There are also some guests that take part in the repel practice, which are usually personalities from Fox News and Fox 5 New York. As a result, the practice has often been broadcast on Fox & Friends on Fox News and Good Day New York on Fox 5 New York.

So, if you want to get into the holiday spirit, go to this amazing event in Downtown Stamford!
