Outdoor Concert Venues
I know that it is currently January, but I am going to fast forward in time to discuss something I always enjoy learning about year after year, outdoor summer concerts at nearby venues. The reason for that is because I am always fascinated by the artists that these venues are able to get, and I feel the concept of going to a concert outside is great, as you get to hear an amazing performance, and it’s not going to be as loud as it would be at an indoor venue, and the sound can probably be heard around the surrounding area. In this blog post, I will be discussing the concerts that have already been announced at two massive venues in the area in hopes that any or all of the concerts I discuss will be interesting enough for you to go to.
The first venue that I will be talking about is the Hartford HealthCare Amphitheater in Bridgeport, Connecticut. This is a venue that recently opened in summer 2021, and I am now going to share with you all the shows they have announced for this season so far.
The first show in their lineup is on May 25, and is a triple header that consists of a progressive rock band called Coheed and Cambria, a heavy metal band called Mastodon, and a progressive metal band called Periphery.
The next show in their lineup is on June 8, and is a double header that consists of an alternative rock band called Wallows and a synth pop band from Pleasantville called Porches.
The next show in their lineup is on June 12 and is an exciting one. It is a supergroup called Ringo Starr & His All Starr Band. As its name suggests, it consists of Ringo Starr from The Beatles, as well as many other famous rock musicians. These other musicians are saxophonist Warren Ham, drummer Gregg Bissonette, Hamish Stuart from Average White Band, multi-instrumentalist Edgar Winter, Colin Hay from Men at Work, and Steve Lukather from Toto. I find the last two members being a part of this to be interesting for a reason that I will explain in a little while.
The next show in their lineup is on June 29, and it consists of four artists that fall under the category of jam artists. They are Dispatch, John Butler, G. Love & Special Sauce, and Donovan Frankenreiter.
The next show in their lineup is on July 15 and is another triple header that consists of rock band Styx, Kevin Cronin, the former lead singer of REO Speedwagon, and Don Felder from The Eagles.
The next show in their lineup is on July 29, and is going to be a performance from legendary rock band Chicago.
The next show in their lineup is on July 30, and is another triple header that consists of rock band Toto, soft rock singer Christopher Cross, and rock band Men at Work. The reason why I said I found Steve Lukather and Colin Hay performing there as part of the All Starr Band interesting is because they are performing here again a little over a month later.
The next show in their lineup is on August 8, and is another double header that consists of rock band Goo Goo Dolls and rock band Dashboard Confessional.
The next show in their lineup is on August 9, and is one that I find very interesting, a performance from comedian Jerry Seinfeld. I find it interesting when comedians perform in amphitheaters, as I feel like most of them prefer to perform in regular theaters.
The next show in their lineup is on August 15, and is another double header that consists of country singer Cody Jinks and country singer Tanner Ursey.
The next show in their lineup is on August 22, and is another triple header that consists of country singers Bailey Zimmerman, Dylan Marlowe, and Drew Baldridge.
The next show in their lineup is on September 12 and September 13, and is another double header that consists of blues rock band Tedeschi Trucks Band and rock singer Steve Winwood.
The last show in their lineup is on September 15, and is another triple header that consists of rock band Papa Roach, rock band Rise Against, and rock band Underoath.
The other venue that I am going to be talking about in this blog post is one that I am sure all of you reading know about and have been to, Jones Beach Theater.
Much like Bridgeport, the venue is going to have Goo Goo Dolls with Dashboard Confessional on August 2 and Papa Roach and Rise Against with Underoath on September 13. I will now be going over the shows they have coming up that are not coming to Bridgeport.
The first show in their lineup is on May 31, and is a headliner show with four special guests. The headliner is country singer Luke Bryan, and the special guests are country singers named George Birge, Avery Anna, Drake Milligan, and someone named DJ Rock.
The next show in their lineup is on June 11, and is an artist that the venue has had year after year, The Dave Matthews Band.
The next show in their lineup is on June 13, and is perfect for people with 80s nostalgia, as it’s a triple header that consists of rock band Simple Minds who are famous for “Don’t You (Forget About Me),” new wave band Soft Cell who are famous for “Tainted Love,” and new wave band Modern English who are famous for “I Melt With You.”
The next show in their lineup is on June 14, and is another headliner show with three special guests. The headliner is country singer Keith Urban, and the special guests are country singers Alana Springsteen, Chase Matthew, and Karley Scott Collins.
The next show in their lineup is on July 12, and is another triple header that consists of country singers Thomas Rhett, Tucker Wetmore, and Dasha.
The next show in their lineup is on July 15, and is another triple header that consists of rock bands Creed, Daughtry, and Mammoth WVH.
The last show in their lineup is on July 27, and it’s an exciting one. This one is for all you fans of 2000s rap, as this is a big show that consists of Nelly & St. Lunatics, Ja Rule, Eve, Jermaine Dupri, and Chingy.
Overall, there are some exciting shows coming up at these two venues with many more to be announced. So, go ahead and get your tickets and go hear some amazing music!
