Outdoor Concert Venues

Image
I know that it is currently January, but I am going to fast forward in time to discuss something I always enjoy learning about year after year, outdoor summer concerts at nearby venues. The reason for that is because I am always fascinated by the artists that these venues are able to get, and I feel the concept of going to a concert outside is great, as you get to hear an amazing performance, and it’s not going to be as loud as it would be at an indoor venue, and the sound can probably be heard around the surrounding area. In this blog post, I will be discussing the concerts that have already been announced at two massive venues in the area in hopes that any or all of the concerts I discuss will be interesting enough for you to go to. The first venue that I will be talking about is the Hartford HealthCare Amphitheater in Bridgeport, Connecticut. This is a venue that recently opened in summer 2021, and I am now going to share with you all the shows they have announced for this season so...

Restaurants Near Here

Image
As some of you might know, I enjoy watching cooking shows, and the reason for that is because I enjoy seeing what the contestants on them make, and thinking about if I would ever want to try anything that they make on the shows. What you probably don’t know is that some of the contestants on these shows are from the area and have restaurants in the area as well. In this blog post, I will be talking about some of these restaurants, and going over the most intriguing items on their menus, in hopes that it will encourage all of you reading to go check them out. The first restaurant comes to us from South Norwalk. It’s called The Spread, and it features a lot of delicious sounding food on its menu. These include a fish taco, veal ricotta meatballs, a shrimp and chorizo chowder, Maryland crab cakes, ricotta gnocchi, pan seared scallops, a Kobe burger, orecchiette, which is a type of pasta, and a seared filet mignon that also comes with potato gnocchi. The next restaurant is Iron & Wine ...

Bartlett Arboretum & Gardens

Image
I have written about many fun and exciting places in Stamford, and today I am going to talk about another one! What I am going to talk about today is Bartlett Arboretum and Gardens, which contains 93 acres of parkland, gardens, landscapes, and hiking trails that focus on the regional plants and ecology of Southwestern New England. In this post, I will be discussing its history and its many features, in hopes that it will encourage all of you reading to go visit it.  The Arboretum was first started in 1913 by Dr. Francis A. Bartlett, a dendrologist and founder of the F.A. Bartlett Tree Expert Company, who had acquired 30 acres of North Stamford woodland to use as his residence, training school, and research laboratory for his company. Over the years, a large number of plant specimens from all over the world were assembled on the property. When the research laboratory moved to North Carolina in 1965, the Stamford property, which covered 60 acres at the time, was purchased by the Stat...

Connecticut Beaches

Image
Over the years, I have enjoyed going to a lot of beaches in the state of Connecticut. There are several good reasons for that, as there aren’t that many beaches here in Westchester County, and all the beaches in Connecticut that I have been to are all fun to walk along and have unique features. In this blog post, I will be writing about all the Connecticut beaches I have been to over the years in hopes that it will encourage all of you reading to go visit them. The first beach that I am going to talk about is in Milford, which is one part of the Connecticut Audubon Society Coastal Center at Milford Point. The beach itself is is 8.4 acres, provides easy access to the Long Island Sound and its many habitats, including tidal salt marshes, barrier beaches, tide pools, and coastal dunes. There are many other features here besides the beach, as 315 species of birds have been seen here, including many rarities, an osprey camera that livestreams to the entire world, and the main building there...

High Ridge Road In Stamford

Image
As I’m sure many of you might remember, I recently made a blog post about the various businesses you can find on the three streets that the Stamford Downtown Parade Spectacular goes through. Today, I am going to do something similar, as I am going to be taking you along High Ridge Road, a road with a variety of unique businesses along it after a certain point, in hopes that any of the businesses along it will sound interesting to you.  The road starts in Pound Ridge, and from there it continues into Stamford, which is where the businesses start to show up.  One of the first things you will encounter along the road is part of the Bartlett Arboretum.  Right after that, you will find the High Ridge Nursery. A little bit after that, you will come across a place I have written about, the Stamford Museum & Nature Center. Shortly after that is a small shopping plaza that has a dry cleaner, a wine and spirits store, and a deli. A little further up the road is another shopping...

Poughkeepsie Galleria

Image
As you probably all remember, I have written about several malls in New York and Connecticut, and today I am going to write about another one! Today I am going to talk about the Poughkeepsie Galleria, which is a mall that has two floors, a total of 1,100,000 square feet, and a total of 105 businesses including four anchor tenants, which makes it the largest shopping center in Dutchess County. In this blog post, I will be discussing the history of the mall and the various businesses there, in hopes that it will convince all of you reading to check it out. The mall first opened on August 1, 1987, and it featured five anchor stores, which were G. Fox & Co., Jordan Marsh, Lechmere, Filene’s, and JCPenney, all of which have since closed. Several other businesses joined the mall after moving from the next-door South Hills Mall, which were Steinbach and Sears, both of which have also since closed.  I will now go over all the business that are at the mall, and I hope any or all of them...
