Pleasantville Farmers Market

Image
If you are looking for a fun event in Westchester County where you can get some amazing food, head over to the Pleasantville Farmers Market! This is an event that is every Saturday from 9:30-12:00 in the winter, and from 8:30-1:00 starting April 6, and has won Best of Westchester from Westchester Magazine ten years in a row. The event also has a ton of vendors for certain types of food and other products. The first vendor that is listed on the website is 3X3 Kitchen Provisions from Riverdale, New York. They sell gluten-free baked goods with local seasonal ingredients from Hudson Valley farmers.  The next vendor is Alpacatrax from Columbia County, New York. They don’t sell food, but they do sell hand-crafted shawls, scarves, socks, and boot warmers made from alpaca wool.  The next vendor is Bien Cuit from Brooklyn, New York. They sell bread with a dark, caramelized crust, as well as a variety of pastries.  The next vendor is Bobolink Dairy & Bakehouse from Milford, New...

Beardsley Zoo

Image
As I’m sure you have probably seen by now, I have written about many places that I enjoy going to in Connecticut, and today I am going to write about another one. One of my favorite places to go to in Bridgeport is the Beardsley Zoo, which is relatively large and has many cool animals. It also has a carousel, a café, a gift shop, and one of the largest greenhouses in the state of Connecticut.  At the entrance of the zoo is a pair of Andean Condors, along with free-roaming Indian peafowl, West African helmeted guineafowl, and wild turkeys. There is also a greenhouse that has water that is home to several different koi. From there, the zoo is divided into nine exhibits. The first of these is the Rainforest Building, which is an indoor exhibit. It is home to many animals from tropical South America, such as a Brazilian ocelot, which is a spotted wild cat, a black howler monkey, a white-faced saki monkey, a golden lion tamarin monkey, a Goeldi’s monkey, a Hoffman’s two-toed sloth, a Br...

From March 13 to May 19 on Wednesdays to Sundays from 12:00 to 6:00, The Paley Center for Media will be having an exhibit for The Masked Singer! This exhibit is described on the website as having a “stunning selection of the series’ breathtaking costumes, sparkling video highlights, artifacts, and photography.” The display itself will feature some of the actual costumes from the show, which are The Leopard, The Gazelle, The Chameleon, Miss Monster, The Yeti, The Mummies, The Seahorse, The Flamingo, The Mushroom, The Rottweiler, and one of the costumes from the current season, The Gumball. There will also be a display of the “Don’t Talk to Me” hoodie and custom visor that each contestant must wear, and there will also be a Golden Mask Trophy on display.  There will also be fun activities for families, as there will be a Masked Singer-themed arts and crafts for kids in the library, and an interactive trivia quiz...

Hartford HealthCare Amphitheater

Image
In the summer of 2021, the city of Bridgeport, Connecticut had an exciting new addition. On July 28, the Hartford HealthCare Amphitheater opened for its first summer of operation, with its first show being a double header of rock bands REO Speedwagon and Styx. I think it’s great that the state of Connecticut has gotten such a massive and profitable tenant immediately following a pandemic that shut everything down. The venue itself has also been impressive as even though it only opened four years ago, it has had some big names perform there. During its first three months of operation, the venue had The Beach Boys do a show with Felix Cavaliere’s Rascals, rock band Greta Van Fleet did shows there for two nights, Alice Cooper did a show there with Ace Frehley from Kiss, and a show that I am impressed happened at the venue in its first year of operation, which was rock band Foo Fighters. I am surprised that they performed at the venue because they strike me as a band that would perform at ...

New York Comedy Club In Stamford

Image
The city of Downtown Stamford has seen many exciting changes in recent years. One of these changes is the opening of the New York Comedy Club at the Stamford Town Center. The venue opened on February 25, 2023, and has seen much success since then. It opened in the restaurant plaza at the mall following the loss of many businesses due to the pandemic, and it makes me happy that they were able to get such a lucrative tenant at a time when they are struggling financially. It also helps them stand out from nearby competition like the Danbury Mall and the SONO Collection. Since it has opened, it has had a variety of comedians perform there, some of which are probably local to the area, and some of which are celebrities that many people have probably heard of. The website for the venue has the names and descriptions for all the comedians that have performed there, so I am now going to talk about some of the comedians that have performed there and are going to perform there that I recognized ...
