More Artists That Would Be Great For Alive At Five

Image
Hello everybody! Today I have come up with more artists that would be perfect for Alive at Five in Stamford! The first artist that I feel would be great for the event is rock band Daughtry. They are a rock band that got their start in the 2000s, much like many of the other artists they have had, so they would be perfect for this reason. It would also be great to hear songs like “It’s Not Over” and “Home” in Mill River Park in Stamford. It would also be cool to hear them sing the songs that Chris Daughtry performed on The Masked Singer, such as “Castle on the Hill” and “Someone You Loved.” The next artist that I feel would be perfect for the event is Akon. They have had several R&B singers that got their start in the 2000s in the past, and he would be another great artist in this genre to add to their lineup. It would also be great to hear songs like “Locked Up” and “Lonely” echoing through the streets of Stamford.  The next artist that I feel would be perfect for the event is K...

More Artists Who Should Do Alive At Five

Hello everybody! I am back to share with you all more artists that I feel would be perfect to perform at the Alive at Five summer concert series in Stamford.  The first artist that I feel would be perfect for the event is R&B singer Mya. Since the event had a double header last year of R&B singers Ginuwine and Ashanti, I feel that it would be great for them to have another talented R&B singer. She is also a talented dancer, so she can show off her dance moves to entertain the audience even more. The next artist that I feel would be perfect for the event is R&B singer Joe. He is another talented R&B singer that has several great songs that would sound great to hear in Downtown Stamford. Since he recently went on a double header tour with Fantasia Barrino, it would be great if he did a double header show with another R&B singer like Monica or Mya. The next artist that I feel would be perfect for the event is the rock band Train. They have a lot of experience p...

Artists Who Should Do Alive At Five

Image
I recently wrote a blog post about the Stamford Downtown event Alive at Five, and in that post, I said that I often think about artists that would be perfect to have at the event, and that I would be making posts about those artists that should perform there. Today, I will be bringing you a post where I talk about artists that would be great to hear performing in Stamford Downtown. The first artist that I feel would be great for the event is the Goo Goo Dolls. The event has already had several other rock bands that got their start in the 90s, so they would be a welcome addition for this reason. They have also gone on several summer tours at outdoor venues in the past, so they are comfortable with performing outside. They also have several songs that would be great to hear through the streets of Stamford Downtown, like “Slide” and “Iris.” The next artist that I feel would be great for the event is Matchbox 20. They are another rock band that got their start in the 90s and 2000s, so they...

Alive At Five

If you are a big fan of outdoor summer concerts, then you should head over to Stamford Downtown! In the months of July and August, they will be holding their annual Alive at Five summer concert series.  The concert series was held at Columbus Park, until 2021, when it was moved to Mill River Park. In my opinion, moving it to this new location was a smart decision, as Columbus Park is smaller and more crowded, while Mill River Park is bigger, and has an entire section away from the crowd where you can still hear the music perfectly.  The series itself started in 1997, and only had local artists that were presumably cover bands. This continued in 1998 and 1999, but one group that they had all three years was a group called Sharkey & the Unknowns. The year 2000 was the first year that they had well known artists, as they had Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes, and they had G.E. Smith, lead guitarist for Hall & Oates and former bandleader of the Saturday Night Live band...

Playland

Image
If you are looking for something fun to do in Westchester County during the summer, head over to Playland in Rye! This is an amusement park that first opened in 1928, is owned by the Westchester County government, and was named a National Historic Landmark in 1987. The park itself has many major components to it. One of the first ones that people encounter when they enter the park is the beach and pool. The beach is part of the Long Island Sound, has what the website calls the Sun & Sea Shop, and recently got a new addition of a waterfront slide. I remember there always being a pool in this area of the park, but according to the website, it appears it has had some significant changes. The pool now has zero depth entry, lounge furniture, and panoramic views of the Long Island Sound. There are also new amenities like a boardwalk shop and grab n go snacks. There is another new addition to this side of the park, which is paddle boats. They are located on the Playland Lake alongside the...

First Day Hikes

Image
A while back, I wrote about First Day Hikes, which took place at several parks in New York on January 1. Well, yesterday I went to John Jay Homestead in Katonah, which was having a First Day Hike and walked almost the entire property! The property itself is not as big as some of the other parks that were having First Day Hikes, but it still has a lot to see as you walk around. When we first arrived at the parking lot, we saw that there were more cars there than usual. It made me happy that so many people went out to support the homestead for an event on the first day of the year. We started to walk into the garden that is right next to the parking lot, but then we chose not to, instead going to a table for the event that had some workers sitting there. She went to talk to the workers, and she got a bag and a bandana for the event, and we also found out that earlier in the morning, one of the workers had gone to the New Year’s Day Polar Plunge at Tod’s Point in Greenwich, Connecticut. W...
