Norwalk NICE Festival

Image
If you are looking for something fun to do in Norwalk this summer, head over to the NICE Festival! This is an event that was started by the Norwalk International Cultural Exchange, which is what NICE stands for. It will be taking place on Saturday July 6 from 11:00 AM-10:00 PM at Oyster Shell Park. Its main purpose is to encourage the various groups that make up society to learn about each other’s traditions and customs in order to foster a deeper understanding and appreciation of what each group brings to our community. There is a variety of music being performed there, vendor tents, and food trucks. I am going to share with you all the various things they have announced for the event this year, and what they have had in the past for things they have not yet announced.  The main stage will have a number of performances throughout the day. From 1:00-1:50, there will be a Latin/Americana fusion performance. From 2:00-2:45, there will be a performance called Pluck & Rail with And...

Stamford Downtown Summer Events

Image
If you are looking for a place that has many fun events that you can go to during the summer, look no further than Stamford Downtown! For the months of June to September, they will be holding several unique events. In this blog post, I will be talking about them and sharing all the information about them that I can. The first event that they have listed on their website is an outdoor sculpture exhibit that will have sculptures all throughout the downtown area. Every year has a theme to the sculptures, such as dinosaurs, spaceships, ducks, shapes like spheres, cubes, and pyramids, and an exhibit that was different animals made from hedges. This year, they plan on having an exhibit called “ArtNORMOUS,” which is described as consisting of seven monumental bronze sculptures from four regional artists. While this is less sculptures than they usually have in an exhibit, the sculptures will also be bigger than usual. I also saw one of the sculptures when I was in Stamford recently, which was ...

Mount Kisco Food Truck Festival

Image
If you are looking for a fun event for the family right here in Mount Kisco, head over to the Food Truck Festival on June 1! This is an event that first started in 2019, didn’t happen in 2020 and 2021 due to the pandemic, returned in 2022, happened again in 2023, and is returning this year for the fourth time. The event serves as a fundraiser for Leonard Park, is held behind Village Hall, and will go from 4:00-8:00, as opposed to all the previous years when it went from 12:00-6:00. In this post, I will be going over the food trucks that have been there in the past and the food trucks that are confirmed to be there this year, and what they sell.  One popular food truck they had in 2022 was the Walter’s Hot Dogs food truck from Mamaroneck. What they have on their menu is hot dogs, your choice of French fries, curly fries, or sweet potato waffle fries, an ice cream tub that has the flavors chocolate, vanilla, strawberry, and Oreo, an Italian ice tub that has the flavors lemon, mixed b...

Match Game Taping

Image
On this blog, I typically write about upcoming events and cool and interesting places that you should go to. Today, I’m going to do something different, and write about something cool that I did several years ago, in hopes that it will encourage you all to do something similar! A few years ago, ABC had several game shows as part of their lineup, and my favorite out of all of them was Match Game. The premise of the show was that two contestants were asked two random and bizarre fill in the blank questions, which they had to fill in with what they felt was the right answer, and their answer had to match as many of the six celebrity panelists as possible, and whoever matched more went on for a chance to win $25,000. What made the show great was its host Alec Baldwin, who would always crack jokes either at the contestants, the panelists, or himself, the panelists, who either made fun of the contestants or each other for their terrible answers, and how funny the questions were, as it was al...

Caramoor Center For Music And The Arts

Image
If you are looking for one of the most fascinating places in Westchester County, head on over to Katonah to go to Caramoor Center for Music and the Arts! This is a former estate that used to belong to Walter and Lucie Rosen, and currently serves as a live music venue for symphonic, opera, chamber, American roots, and jazz performances. It also has a variety of gardens and grounds for picnicking, walking, and exploring the sound art installations they have there. There is also a small stage in the center of the property, a pavilion and a tent right next to it, and a theater that has a variety of performances. I also remember that this is where my brother and I had our high school graduation.  One of the main features of the property is The Rosen House, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. This house can also be enjoyed in a number of ways, such as a guided tour, an afternoon tea, hearing a concert in the music room or Spanish courtyard, or attending a fundrai...
